Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is one of the few language universities in the country. It was established as "Telugu University" on 2nd December 1985 through an Act of Legislation (Act No. 27 of 1985) with headquarters at Hyderabad and campuses at Sri Sailam and Rajahmundry. Later in the year 1989, the Siddhendra Kalakshetram at Kuchipudi merged with the University. The School of Folk and Tribal Lore was established at Warangal during the year 1994.

A student who has passed senior secondary school successfully in any stream can apply for the above mentioned UG programmes. Reservation of seats in courses offered by the university will be in accordance with the policy of Telangana state. Out of the total vacancies in various courses, seats are reserved for the student belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories/Kashmiri migrants/children of freedom fighters etc. The student can register for admission by filling and submitting the online application form along with the required documents and necessary processing fee on or before June 2019 Admission to UG Programmes shall be based on the merit of the student in the entrance test followed by counselling.
